Meet Adam Koffler, an active Board member of the Bakehouse since 2019. Adam’s career in real estate, hotel development, and operations spans over 30 years. As a Bakehouse Board member, he lends his expertise in philanthropy and real-estate development to the thinking and planning around a future Bakehouse campus. In partnership with his wife Lisa Heiden-Koffler, who is a member of the Bass Museum of Art Board of Directors, he has generously supported Bakehouse, while also encouraging others to give. Most recently, he helped raise a significant amount of funds at this past year’s annual fundraiser to support and subsidize Bakehouse artists’ studios.

Residing in Miami since 2005, Adam now owns and operates YES Leasing, a commercial equipment leasing company funding hundreds of small businesses throughout the US. He is the Board Chair of The Koffler Foundation, with the mandate of supporting The Koffler Centre of the Arts in Toronto, Canada, his hometown. His philanthropic interest has been focused on local community initiatives, as well as developing a global corps of young diplomats in over 40 countries.

Bakehouse recently posed a few questions to Adam regarding his philanthropy and his hopes for the future iteration of Bakehouse.

Why is it important to support artists and the organizations that serve them?

Lisa and I enjoy supporting individuals and organizations that through their passion, work, and intentions make the world a better place to live in day by day.

What inspires you about Bakehouse?

I am inspired by the diverse community that arises from conscious coexistence. Bakehouse facilitates this opportunity and does so with integrity and clarity of purpose and mission.

Why should someone donate to Bakehouse? 

I find it exciting to witness and participate in the evolution and execution of the grand vision that Bakehouse offers. The pathway to what will surely become a nationally-acclaimed artist campus unique in its mission and scope.

What is your wish for Bakehouse as it embarks on its next generation for 21st-century art-making? 

To be bold!

Where would you like to see Bakehouse in three years?

Well on the way to the fulfillment of its potential as an arts community and artists campus.
