Leftovers is the second iteration of the The Windows Project, a collaboration between The Bass and Bakehouse, featuring site-specific projects by emerging and local artists on a rotating basis.

Shannon Alonzo: 'Play ah mas, Play yaself' mural and performance

Shannon Alonzo, 2023 PAMM CCI Fellow, who has been in residence at Bakehouse since October, has been working on the mural Play ah mas, Play yaself, which explores the dialogue between Caribbean carnival and the female masquerader. During the performance, which will take place during our annual Miami Art Week event, Baker’s Brunch, she will slowly and methodically erase the detailed mural as a way to emphasize the ephemeral cycles present in Caribbean Carnival praxis, during which we give ourselves over to the transience of the moment and its inevitable loss.

Clara Toro: Wynwood Norte, Un barrio de Miami

The second iteration of Clara Toro’s long-term project, Wynwood Norte: Un barrio de Miami is a selection of thirty images from a larger body of work that documents the single-family homes and residents of Wynwood Norte. Her images hint to everyday life in one of Miami’s historic urban neighborhoods and prompt the viewer to think about people through the spaces–both interior and exterior, public and private–they occupy.
