Artist News: April 2023
Bakehouse artist Amalia Caputo will be a guest speaker for Cornell University’s annual Symposium: (Re)thinking Venezuela: Movement, Transit, Displacement . On April 14-15, she will present the art research paper On Borrowed Lands. The Questions of Exile, Identity and Dissent in the Works of Selected Venezuelan Contemporary Women Artists.
Caputo will also be participating in the exhibition Creadoras at the Galería de Arte Nacional in Caracas, Venezuela, opening April 30th.
Work by artist Woosler Delisfort is now on view at the Little Haiti Cultural Center Art Gallery, for the group exhibition Give Them Their Flowers. The exhibition opened March 13th and is on view until April 23rd.
Sign of Life, a collaborative film by Bakehouse artists, including Maria Theresa Barbist as featured artist, Pedro Wazzan as Director, Augusto Esquivel as Co-Director and Art Director, as well as Jason Aponte and Diana Espin as PA assistance, will premiere at the 305 & Havana International Improv Fest on April 13th at 8:30pm.
Artist Gonzalo Hernandez has announced his solo exhibition at Kates-Ferri Projects in NY, We Will Have to Tear Down All These Walls: Gonzalo Hernandez. The show will open with an artist reception on Friday, April 21st at 6pm, and close on May 20th.
Gonzalo has also been selected to participate in the group show Hand Over Hand: Textiles Today, on view at Mindy Solomon Gallery in Miami on April 30 through June 10, 2023.
