Vizcaya First Fridays x Bakehouse Art Complex

Vizcaya First Fridays x Bakehouse Art Complex

Visit Vizcaya Museum and Gardens after hours and explore different artistic disciplines with Bakehouse artists. Beatriz Chachamovits, Augusto Esquivel, and Troy Simmons will be creating art throughout the estate. Visitors will be able to watch them work and ask questions about the process, while maintaining social distancing.

There will also be several intimate talks throughout the evening digging into Vizcaya’s original artworks and the artists who made them. These intimate experiences are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and will be available for nine people or less at a time, maintaining health and safety practices.

Visitors can also enjoy music streamed from the East Terrace as you take in the waterfront views and explore the first floor of the Main House as the sun sets.

Make a night of it with refreshments available for purchase from The Cuban Guys food truck.

About the artists

Beatriz Chachamovits is a Brazilian artist and marine researcher whose work explores her interest in coral reef ecosystems. Beatriz will be working on the East Terrace at Vizcaya, right along Biscayne Bay, and welcomes the opportunity to chat with visitors about her work and the critical importance of environmental stewardship.

Augusto Esquivel works with buttons to keep him tethered to his grandmother and explores the relationship between the immigrant experience and capitalism. Augusto will be working in the Courtyard of the Main House and looks forward to engaging with guests that evening.

Troy Simmons is a Texas-born, Miami-based sculptor. His work reflects the Arte Povera movement in his use of common construction materials, fabric, and salvaged wood. Simmons’ inspirations are drawn from his Texas childhood and explorations through the piney woods of East Texas.
