First Aid Kit for Artists: Balancing the elements
Through an introductory look at the three Doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha, we can start to understand our unique constitutions and how they affect our body and mind. Techniques that can be integrated into your daily routine, such as easy stretches and self care tips, will allow you to start your journey into finding balance in life and in your practice.
For the third session of the “First Aid Kit” series, Bakehouse resident artist Maria Theresa Barbist is joined by artist Britt Acocelli and cultural producer Ananda DeMello, who will offer simple techniques on how to integrate the healing traditions of Yoga and Ayurveda to daily self-care during stressful and uncertain times. This class is designed and taught by artists for the public at large.
During this session, designed and taught by artists for the public at large, Ananda and Britt will discuss how to observe Yoga philosophy within art-making and the creative process. Focusing primarily on the ethical guides set by Patañjali in the Yoga Sutras, these tenets can help establish a healthier and more vibrant long-term practice, making it easier to avoid potential "burnout" and inspire new ways of thinking.
