New Staff at Bakehouse: Shawn Clybor, Chief Technology Strategist and Planner
Bakehouse is excited to announce that Dr. Shawn Clybor has joined our team as the Chief Technology Strategist and Planner. Shawn is a Fulbright-Hays recipient who received his Ph.D. and Masters Degrees in History from Northwestern University. Working with Executive Director Cathy Leff, Shawn will be responsible for the research, strategies, and recommendations intended to physically and programmatically transform Bakehouse over the next five years as a center for art making and art presentation in the digital age. This will involve research on new and appropriate technologies, including physical infrastructure needs, and coordinating the planning process with all relevant stakeholders, including the Bakehouse Board, staff, artists, and other relevant advisors and advisory groups.
Shawn brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success as a writer, educator, researcher, game designer, collections manager, and consultant. As a game designer at Charles Games in Prague, Shawn co-developed two interactive history games that have won dozens of international awards and prizes. Shawn has also worked with a private art collector to build a digital research database for a collection of more than 2,000 rare books and works of art that were recently donated to the British Library and Johns Hopkins University.
The creation of this new position is made possible by generous support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Shawn will work part-time at the Bakehouse until relocating from Chicago to Miami in May. He will be joined by his partner, Jacqueline Kuper, who manages nonprofit databases, strategizes fundraising initiatives, and implements cross-functional collaboration across various teams. She is also a very cool person.
We are confident that Shawn’s expertise and leadership will be a valuable asset to our team and help us to achieve our goals. Please join us in welcoming Shawn to Bakehouse!
