Meet Adriene McCoy, Bakehouse Board Member since 2019, and Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer (CPO) for Baptist Health South Florida.

Mrs. McCoy is responsible for overseeing all Baptist Health’s Talent functions, amongst several other areas of the organization. She joined Baptist Health in 2007 as Assistant Vice President of Human Resources and was promoted to CHRO in 2014.

Adriene’s wealth of experience in both for-profit and non-profit healthcare environments is exceedingly helpful, particularly as Bakehouse’s expanded campus considers the health and well-being of its artist community, and the Wynwood Norte community at large. At the same time, Adriene represents Baptist Health’s desire to connect arts and culture to health and wellness through artist-led programs for patients.

Alongside her participation in the Bakehouse Board of Directions, Adriene also sits on the Board of Advisors for Florida International University (FIU) Center for Leadership (Vice-Chair), Lotus House/Sundari Foundation Board (Vice-Chair), and she serves as the Chair for the YWCA South Florida Board.

Why is it important to support artists and the organizations that serve them?

Art is such an important part of our culture and the gifted artists at Bakehouse should be allowed to work on their craft as freely as they can.

What inspires you about Bakehouse?

I’m inspired by the openness of the artists in inviting observers into their workspace to see the artistic process. The artists’ innovation and creativity promote freedom of expression and supports the well-being of those who have the opportunity to view both the process and result.

Why should someone donate to Bakehouse?

It’s imperative that we support the arts community and sustain our efforts to provide affordable workspaces. As artists often maintain their livelihood relying on income from their artwork, additional support ensures they are able create with a sense of security in the long-term.

What is your wish for Bakehouse as it embarks on its next generation for 21st-century art-making?

I wish for Bakehouse to continue to inspire new generations of artists and continue the legacy of diverse, inspiring art forms in a supportive environment. I would also wish that Bakehouse artists continue to be showcased in our community and nationally for their talents.

Where would you like to see Bakehouse in three years?

I would like to see Bakehouse be renovated with affordable housing for both the artists and the community. I would like to see thriving programs for youth and aspiring artists, with Bakehouse being a hub for the arts, particularly during events like Art Basel. I would like to see Bakehouse solidified as a destination that inspires innovation in other parts of our city.
