Bakehouse artist Andrea Spiridonakos was recently named the costume designer for a Miami City Ballet commission by choreographer Pontus Lidberg. The one-of-a-kind, bespoke silk costumes recently debuted for a workshop performance at Copenhagen Summer Dance in Ofelia Plads, Copenhagen and will be presented at the ballet’s premiere next February at the Adrienne Arsht Center. 

Bakehouse artist Maria Theresa Barbist will be participating in the IMMERSION 4.0: VR Creation Lab hosted by The School of Making Thinking in partnership with Cucalorus Film Festival in Wilmington, North Carolina. Through the residency, artists become acquainted with the growing field of virtual reality (VR) and develop and execute an immersive media project with production support and technical assistance from the residency leadership and collaborators.

Bakehouse resident organization Bookleggers Library is celebrating its ten year anniversary and will be hosting a celebratory event on July 23 from 5 to 10 PM at the Sylvester.

Summer Open artist Jose Luis Garcia is currently presenting work in Reclaimed, a group exhibition at Bridge Red Studios. The show features artworks by local artists that utilize reclaimed materials. 

Bakehouse artist Moira Holohan recently attended the Cal Gras residency in Avinyó, Spain.
Summer Open artist Zelmira Rizo-Patron recently debuted Sin Cabeza, a solo exhibition now on view at Central Fine. Working across drawing, painting and printmaking, the artist explores how our relationships to the environments or ‘bodies’ we inhabit and interact with can affect or define our perception, thought and feeling.
