Donor Highlight: Grant Gittlin and Sarah Piscitelli

When Grant Gittlin and Sarah Piscitelli moved to Miami from New York in 2020, they knew they wanted to continue to use their philanthropy to provide direct support to working artists. After learning about the Bakehouse Art Complex and meeting its leadership and artists, they realized the organization’s mission was aligned with their own. Through the Artha Foundation, they generously contributed to the Artist Studio Subsidy Fund, enabling Bakehouse to continue to provide workspace security to artists. Recently they agreed to sponsor five Bakehouse artists on a “friends" study trip to New York and New Haven. This trip is an opportunity for participants to meet and learn from other artists, artist-serving organizations, cultural professionals, and see art, architecture, and recently built or improved art-making spaces.

Why is it important to support artists and the organizations that serve them?

Our commitment is to organizations who recognize the humanity in the humanities. Supporting artists as people is the goal. Period.

What inspires you about Bakehouse?

Bakehouse aligns with our ethos perfectly. More than just the individual, it is a place of community. And that results in an unique energy unlike anywhere else we’ve seen.

Why should someone donate to Bakehouse?

Why not?!

Bakehouse turns 35 this year. What is your birthday wish for Bakehouse as it celebrates this pivotal anniversary?

Bakehouse is a national caliber program - we hope it’s combination of personality and scale continues to be recognized for how meaningful it is to the lives of everyone it touches

Where would you like to see Bakehouse in three years?

Having successfully upgraded the building and rolling out even more incredible programs. But they need our support to get there - as Sarah and I say “more cake for the bake.”

Bakehouse is thankful for the generosity of Grant, Sarah, and the Artha Foundation. You, too, can make a difference.
